Interventions
All the interventions I work with are evidence based. The therapy is always tailored to your family’s and child’s specific needs, but there are some evidence based progams that I frequently provide.
Triple P
The positive parenting program, Triple P aims to promote positive behaviours in children and prevent or reduce behavioural and emotional problems. The program is based on the belief that all parents have the capacity to be effective, confident and nurturing caregivers, and provides practical tools and strategies to help parents build strong, healthy relationships with their children. The program focuses on empowering parents to develop positive parenting skills that promote children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, while also reducing parenting stress and promoting family wellbeing. Triple P is a parenting programme, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them. It’s all about making Triple P work for you.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that helps children identify and change negative or distorted thoughts and behaviours that may be causing them emotional distress. This therapy is based on the idea that how we think and what we do affects how we feel, and that changing our thoughts and behaviours can lead to improvements in our emotional well-being.
CBT is a practical and structured therapy that is typically short-term and focused on specific goals
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of therapy that helps children develop psychological flexibility and learn to live in the present moment. It is based on the idea that suffering is a natural part of life, but that it is possible to develop a greater sense of well-being by accepting difficult thoughts and feelings and taking action in line with one’s values.
It focuses on teaching children how to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, and to identify and commit to values-based actions that are important to them.
Kids Skills
Kids Skills is a program designed to help children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. The program is based on the latest research in child development and is designed to be fun and engaging for kids of all ages. The program aims to support children in changing their mindset from fixed to more flexible.
Samen Sterk
‘Samen Sterk‘ is a course designed for parents of teenagers who are struggling with depression. The program aims to provide parents with the tools, knowledge and support they need to help their child manage their depression and get the right care and treatment.
The program is based on the belief that parents are essential partners in supporting their child’s mental health and provides practical strategies for parents to build a stronger relationship with their teen, communicate more effectively, and manage common challenges such as social isolation, low self-esteem, and self-harm.
By participating in ‘Samen Sterk’, parents can develop a better understanding of depression and its impact on their child, and learn how to support their child’s recovery while also taking care of their own well-being. The program empowers parents to become advocates for their child’s mental health and provides them with the tools and resources they need to navigate the complex mental health care system and access appropriate support and treatment.
